the moon.
an ode to her glow.
hanging in the dark sky,
a glowing orb shines bright
masterpieces form in my window,
as I gaze at the beautiful light.
she kindles windows into wonder,
lays her glow on roof and sea;
in her shimmer, fear falls silent,
shadows loosen, hearts breathe free.
she midwives tender midnight kisses,
threads of longing, finely spun;
in her hush the world grows gentle,
war and worry come undone.
but when her light slips from the heavens,
and the dark reclaims its throne,
does hope flicker, faint and fragile?
do lovers wander lost, alone?
oh! look out the window
the Moon, do you see?
her presence hums a hymn of solace,
her absence empties me.
